PAWS Animal Adoption Center is looking for new board members to join our organization. If you are interested, please send a brief bio to director@pawsadoptioncenter.org.
These are the responsibilities of a board member for PAWS. Board meetings are the held the 4th Tuesday of the month at PAWS at 6:30.
- Attend all board and committee meetings(as appropriate) and major functions. If you are unable to attend, notify the Board President or committee chair as soon as possible.
- Be informed about the organizations’ mission, services, policies, and programs.
- Review agenda and supporting material prior to board and committee meetings. Advise the Board President or committee chair in advance of any topics that you want included on the agenda.
- Serve on committees or task forces and offer to take on special assignments.
- Make a personal financial contribution to the organization.
- Inform others about the organization.
- Suggest possible nominees to the board who can make significant contributions to the work of the board and the organization.
- Keep up to date on development in the organizations field.
- Follow conflict of interest and confidentiality policies. Any confidential information discussed or disclosed at board meeting shall remain confidential.
- Refrain from making special request of the staff. Report any concerns about a staff members or procedure to the Operation Manager.
- Assist the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities, such as reviewing the organization’s annual financial statements.
- Avoid abusing any privileges that being a board member might afford. Volunteer at least 2 hours a month at the shelter (as a volunteer only and not a board member) or 1 mobile.
